Homemade Tahini Dark Hot Chocolate

tahini hot chocolate1

This hot chocolate was made because the cravings I was having at the time could not be satisfied, and I’m glad I made it. There are a couple secrets to this drink to make it unique and amazing starting with a tablespoon of tahini.

The key to this hot chocolate is to melt chocolate in steaming milk for a more decadent and European taste. Sweeten a bit, add a pinch of salt and some homemade tahini and you got yourself a perfect warming winter dessert.

  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

Adapted from this recipe.

Ingredients
3/4 cup milk of choice (I used Silk almond coconut milk blend)
1/2 tbsp agave nectar syrup (or sweetener of choice)
1 1/2 tablespoons homemade tahini (or store bought)
1 oz dark or bittersweet chocolate, chopped
pinch of himalayan pink salt or sea salt

Directions:
Heat almond milk and agave syrup in a small saucepan, whisking to dissolve syrup, until steaming. Add tahini, chocolate and salt; whisk until smooth. Pour unto your favorite mug and enjoy!

Notes: if it’s not sweet enough, simply add more sweetener and stir in the cup. I don’t like mine super sweet.

  1. oooh thank you so much for coming to join the tea party! 🙂 I absolutely adore this. I got some free tahini and had no idea what to do with it as never eaten it before, don’t even really know what it is, but i love hot chocolate and this sounds like hot chocolate with a difference. It’s saved to my scrapbook and I will be def trying this, thank you again and please help yourself to goji brownies hehe & party with the others, they are all friendly 🙂 xxx
