Organic Chocolate, Comfort Food Around The World, Dominogh, and More

Cat photo of the day (by hoschie)

This week, I got my Oregon state 8 year driving license! It was exciting because I passed the test with a 100% (alright, I had to take it twice, but still, they don’t give you the exact same questions every time), and they gave me 8 years which I wasn’t expecting because my green card right now expires in August, and in Durham, NC where I last obtained a driving license, if you are a U.S. resident, they give you a license with the same expiration date as your green card.

In other news, last night I made a special dinner for four for the first time. I had never cooked for more than two people except for potluck dishes like a big bowl of guacamole. Josh and I wanted to make a nice dinner for our hosts, who are now our friends and roommates. The menu was: chicken parmesan, roasted broccoli, garlic mashed potatoes, garlic bread, and salad. It was a success.

I hope you have an awesome weekend! Enjoy these links I gathered from internetland:

A Funny Panda, Abstract Iceland, Cereal Tea, Backpacking and More

Out the window today in Portland.

Portland, OR got about 4 inches of snow yesterday, and it is still snowing right now. It is always quiet around here where we are staying, but this morning, when I woke up it felt even quieter. I could feel the energy of the city was very tranquil, like people were staying home. It’s a weekday, but it doesn’t seem to matter. We are getting a lot of answering machines today trying to make appointments for several things which confirms that a lot of people are not working today.

The feeling overall this day is very peaceful.

So, since many of you are home today, and even if you’re not, here are a few links to entertain you:
