Amartithi is a very special event taking place every year from January 29-31 in the town of Meherabad in the state of Maharashtra, India which hosts around 12,000 overnight visitors, and about 30,000 daytime visitors from all over the world during this three-day program in celebration of Meher Baba. A week ago I arrived from a wonderful 12 day trip to India, but I didn’t visit the India that most people know. I didn’t go to the Taj Mahal or see elephants swim in the waters of Kerala, I didn’t visit the pink city of Jaipur or the majestic Himalayas, and I didn’t explore the big cities like Delhi or Bangalore. The nearest city a few miles away is Ahmednagar in the state of Maharashtra in India, and Ahmednagar is about 2 hours from the bigger city of Pune. Lately I have been writing quite negatively about India with all my latest culture shock posts. My intention is to run an honest blog, so I’m not going to be writing about how awesome and easy life is as an expat if it is not true, and I am not just going to write about the positive things that happen. We were heading home when suddenly, we saw a man with his two cows, and other men surrounding them, walking up the hill. These cows were all decorated with balloons and powdered paint. The only camera we had on hand, was Josh’s phone (which has a pretty crappy camera, unfortunately.)
